The ScaRaB instrument on Megha-Tropiques could partially fill a gap foreseen in the continuous measurement of the Earth radiative budget : the CERES instruments on TERRA and AQUA platforms are scheduled to stop at the latest in 2008, while the equivalent instrument on NPOES is scheduled to start in 2011.
The Megha-Tropiques mission, whose duration is 3 years starting 2006-2007, could fill at least a part of this gap.
